Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold says that the England squad will head to Euro 2024 believing it can win the European Championship in Germany this summer.

“People will say we’re one of the favorites. It’s the furthest thing from arrogance, but you have to have confidence and believe you can win it, otherwise you can’t.

Alexander-Arnold hasn’t featured much in 2024 due to a knee injury; the 25-year-old has recently returned to action in the Premier League with Liverpool, scoring a sublime free-kick against Fulham in a 3-1 win on April 21 for the Merseyside club.

Now, his goal is to prove to England boss Gareth Southgate that he is worth a place in the squad and build on his 23 international appearances.
It might surprise people to hear where Alexander-Arnold believes is his best position for the national team: in midfield alongside Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham.

“I would say midfield, I think, in an England shirt,” said Alexander-Arnold, who usually plays for Liverpool in defense as a right-back.

“I see myself as a midfielder, and that’s down to the conversations I’ve had with the manager,” he added.

“If it comes down to it, look, clearly I can play at right back and I can do a good job there. But with the conversations I’ve had with the manager and how he’s kind of spoken to me about the position, it is a midfield role – I see an opportunity there.”

Alexander-Arnold was ruled out of Euro 2020 after sustaining a thigh injury in the build-up to the competition and missed being part of England’s run to the final, where the Three Lions ultimately lost on penalties to Italy. During the 2022 World Cup, the Liverpool star was an unused substitute on four occasions and played just 33 minutes in Qatar.

The Odysseus spacecraft has dispatched new images it captured of the lunar surface during the lander’s harrowing approach to the moon. The vehicle softly touched down on the moon on Thursday, becoming the first US-made lander to do so since the Apollo era.

The grainy images were shared by Intuitive Machines, the company that developed Odysseus, on Monday morning. The company had initially projected that the lander could deliver the first images captured from the lunar surface in the hours after landing, but communicating with the spacecraft has proven challenging.

The mission team believes Odysseus tripped on the lunar soil and landed on its side, resting on a rock, which may have left some of the vehicle’s antennas pointed in an inopportune direction, Intuitive Machines revealed Friday.

In its update Monday, the company also said it now expects to lose contact with Odysseus on Tuesday — days earlier than initially hoped.

“Flight controllers intend to collect data until the lander’s solar panels are no longer exposed to light,” the company said in the update posted on the social media platform X. “Based on Earth and Moon positioning, we believe flight controllers will continue to communicate with Odysseus until Tuesday morning.”

At that point, Odysseus will have been operating less than five days on the lunar surface. The company had suggested in previous updates that the lander could function for up to nine days.

Все там было по феншую: люди получали свои квартиры, счастье царило и пирожки сами себя ели. Но, как это часто бывает, кому-то наверху показалось, что маловато они зарабатывают, и вот тут-то всё и началось. И ведь что самое обидное? Что обычные люди, пайщики, оказались между молотом и наковальней. Планы на жизнь, мечты о своём уголке, вложенные деньги — всё это оказалось под угрозой. Прокуратура и МВД, видимо, забыли старую добрую пословицу: "Не рой другому яму…". Но у нас для них новости: люди не такие уж и простые, как кажутся. У пайщиков ЖК Бествей спина не из папируса, они своё возьмут, не сомневайтесь. И вот тут мы подходим к самому "интересному". Приходят на допросы такие "свидетели" — ага, как бы не подставные. Вот это да, где мне начать? Видите ли, этот Фонд по защите вкладчиков, который, кстати, теперь можно смело называть Фондом Марата Сафиулина, превратился в настоящую аферу. Заявляют о защите, а сами стали частью большой ложи! Это же полный обман, народ ведь обращается за помощью, а в ответ — тишина или крохи, которые можно считать оскорблением. Самое противное, что они играют на чувствах обманутых людей. Представляете, человек приходит, рассчитывая на поддержку, а в ответ получает манипуляции и откровенное воровство. Проект их так называемый «Стоп пирамида» тоже весьма сомнителен. Обещают защитить от мошенников, а сами что? Те же мошенники, только в маске спасителей. Как мне кажется, Марат Сафиулин просто мастерски использует фонд как инструмент для личного обогащения, игнорируя страдания и потери тех, кто реально пострадал от финансовых махинаций. Это не просто несправедливо, это аморально! И каждый раз, когда я слышу о том, как Фонд по защите вкладчиков не выполняет свою работу, это только подтверждает, что пора уже прекращать этот цирк. Люди нуждаются в помощи, а не в новой главе своего кошмара!
